Defects are suggested such as absence of entire devotedness of the heart; conformity to the world; fear of man; absence of self-denial; pride, and defective personal or family religion.
A pastor cannot read these chapters honestly without deep self-examination of his piety and conduct. But wouldn't the mature Christian benefit from such self-assessment as well? Here are clear biblical standards for the Christian in the church... both the pastor and his people. And as we pray for more workers to be sent into the harvest, these are the character traits we should expect to see in the spiritual leaders of a rising generation.
